Interview with Alexis Carache  18.01.2010

El Yaque Local Alexis Carache was one of the first El Yaque Windsurfers at all and nowadays surely is the fastest Windsurfer in Venezuela. 1498 El YaqueNews had a little Chat with the El Yaque Champ :

1498 : Alexis, 2009 was a good year for you windsurfing wise. You became venezuelan Champion again and you won the Aruba High Winds. What can you tell us about your windsurfing career so far, your greatest succes ?

Alexis : 2009 was very good to win the Championchips in Venezuela and of course, the Aruba High Winds is always a very hard Competition with Top Slalom guys and it is very nice to win there. In total i became 5 times venezuelan Champion and before 2009 I could also win the Aruba High Winds in 2007. In 1997 /98 I became third in the southamerican Championchips.

1498 : You are always the fastest guy on the water and THE man to beat, what is your fastest Speed ?

Alexis : Actually I am the venezuelan record holder in Speed on open waters with 39 knots, i think that is the fastest I could really go so far.

1498 : El Yaque is very well known for the Freestyle Champions, no competition for you from Diony, Ricardo, Gollito and Co ?

Alexis : The guys give me a hard race during the Competition and also in the Training and free sailing but still I can keep them in my back.

1498 : What comes next for you, any Competitions ?

Alexis : The last two days of January we have our first Slalom Competition in Cumana at the venezuelan mainland

1498 : You just opened a Windsurf School in El Yaque, tell us about it.

Alexis : We just celebrate our first month of the Viva Windsurf School. It is real Windsurfing School, where we want to get and keep more venezuelans on the Windsurfer. Our goal is to make Windsurf in Venezuela grow, that is my life and I love to help people enjoy my sport and it is great to do that at my home, which i consider one of the best Spots at all

1498 : Besides the Windsurfing School you got your Boat "El Yaquero". What is that about ?

Alexis : With our Yaquero we offer Trips to many Spots at the Island of Margarita, to Isla Coche, Isla Cubagua, snorkel, Kite and Windsurf Trips
