Interview with the 3 times Worldchampion

While he was forced to stay in bed for a couple of days with a bad flew, three times Freestyle Worldchampion and El Yaque Local Gollito Estredo found some time to chat about his past season and his future.

1498EYN : At the last PWA Worldcup at Sylt in Germany you received your third Worldchampion Trophy in Freestyle. How does it feel to be tripple Worldchampion ?

Gollito Estredo : Actually it feels really good and I was really happy when I got that trophy, because Sylt was very hard and I still could loose my title.

1498 :  What was special in your 2009 Tour ?

GE : In the beginning I was worried, because I hurt my shoulder in the beginning of the Training Season and couldn´t train as I wanted to and I didn´t know what the other guys like Kiri Thode and Marcilio Browne (his hardest opponents on the Tour .red) But already at the first Competition at Lanzarote I felt really comfortable and could win the Contest and there I knew I could have a very good season, even if the other guys were sailing very very impressive

1498 : After winning also the Fuerteventura Worldcup, did you feel safe already or you remained nervous about the last Competition to come at Sylt ?

GE : No, after Fuerteventura I knew it would still be hard for me, because there were still four more guys who could take the title and you never know how the wind would be at Sylt. During the Competition at Sylt the wind was a bit light, it was freezing cold and I had some very hard Heats to win. Only when I won the Heat against Brown I knew that now I am really close to be worldchampion, if i would have lost, i would have lost my title as well.

1498 : Besides the Windsurf Worldcup Tour you are travelling a lot, for Training reasons or what else you do throughout the year ?

GE : I was travelling a lot, to a Photoshoot for my Sponsor North Sails in Germany, than for the Board, Sail and clothing Fotoshoot of my Sponsors Fanatic, ION and North Sails in egypt, where we also started to film for the windsurfing movie "Four Dimensions". For the Movie I also travelled to Brasil and the Canary Islands and than there was the ION Man Event at Lake Garda in Italy

1498 : What are your plans for the winter and the next Season ?

GE : I plan to go to Bonaire for a little to see my friends and hard Competitors from Bonaire and of course to see their actual Level. Than I was invited for a great Windsurf Event at St. Martin. Inbetween and later I wil train as much as I can and try to push my Moves and limits a little bit more and end of April we start our Season with the Fotoshoots and the first Competitions

1498 : So what are your goals for the next Worldcup Season, are you satisfied now with your three Cups in the pocket ?

GE : No, i want to win, always. I want to win many more titles and than later also try to find my luck in the waves and maybe Slalom, to see if I can push there too

1498 : With all the travelling and the succes you have in Windsurfing, how important is home for you ?

GE : The most important, without my family I would be nobody. For me it is very important to be with my family and my friends and they also really support me and give me power for my Competitions
