National Windsurf Contest Valencia  17.04.2010

A proof of how much the Sport or Windsurfing is growing in Venezuela are certainly the big amount of Competitions throughout the year. At the weekend 17. - 19. of April the next Contest takes place at the venezuelan Mainland close to Valencia.

Flood after drought  07.04.2010

After a very hard and long drought, actually for a couple of months, which has caused some dramatic and mayor problems in the entire country, starting from fires to electricity and water problems to much more, now the weather has changed in some parts of the country and it rained hard enough to cause soem floods with human loss. Affected is not only Venezuela, also their neighbors of Colombia and Brasil in the South suffer from some very hard rain, where Rio de Janeiro possibly got hit hardest

Safer Festivities  19.02.2010

The number of injured and dead people in traffic accidents went down more than a 34 % during the past Carnival Season. Many Controls on Venezuelas Roads and Highways and the Ley Seca, the prohibition of the alcohol sale during certain hours of the day might have been the reason for safer roads during the past festivities

During the Carnival days the sale of Alcohol will be prohibited again at certain hours during the day time. The so called " Ley Seca" has been announced first time a couple of years ago for the easter week to reduce the huge amount of traffic accidents during the festivities

Baseball Season is over  10.02.2010

The Venezuelans can go back to their normal lifes. The Baseball Season is over. The Series del Caribe just finished, with the Dominican Republic as winner and Venezuela showing not its best performance at all. Most players wil have to start playing again soon in the amercian Mayor League Baseball, while the other players will have a few months break

Operation Island Security  30.01.2010

In order to make the Island of Margarita safer, more policemen have been employed, private security companies created and security cameras will be installed at all important points at the Islands, in the cities and Villages. Especially at night some parts of the Island became insecure. With the new security system a safer feeling shall be given to the Island s citizens same as to all tourists

Baseball Final without Bravos  21.01.2010

When the venezuelan streets are empty, fireworks explode every half hour and about every single TV in Venzuela is switched on, the Baeball Finals have started. unluckily the new Team of the Island of Margarita, the Bravos didn´t make it into the final round. For the Championchip now play the biggest rivals "Leones de Caracas" and "Navegantes de Magallanes" from Valencia

National Windsurf Tour starts in Cumana  12.01.2010

In the past year Venezuela saw the biggest Windsurf Competition Tour in history. The new Windsurf hype in the south american country continues with the first Competition of the 2010 Tour in Cumana at the venezuelan Mainland between the 30th and 31st of January

More than 400.000 tourists visited the Island of Margarita during the christmas holidays, with around 15 international flights and around 4700 international tourists, the venezuelans seem to prefer their Island as holiday destination

Big Wave alert at Venezuelan coastline  31.12.2009

The storm alert for the venezuelan coastline has been set on red, which means strong winds and big waves are expected to hit the beaches. At the Island of Margarita, especially at the desert part of Macanao, waves with heights up to four meters passed already along in the last two days

Dynamic start of national tourism  25.12.2009

Within a very short time the national tourism at the Island of Margarita has started, thousands of plane and ferry tickets have been sold in few hours and the streets in the City of Porlamar almost collapsed. The Shopping Malls nearly exploded the past days by the outrageous number of visitors and shopping willed tourists. Which is good for the islands business ends in some chaotic sceneries at some places. Long traffic jams lead the way to the islands Beaches in the morning and to the shopping centers, Discotheques and open air festivals at night. Luckily all festivities are very calm and relaxed, considering the substantial consume of alcohol

Banks reopened  22.12.2009

The intervened Banks in Venezuela have reopened their doors and the national tourism at the Island of Margarita has started immediately. Within 24 hours the traffic started to stuck, the Ferryport became more work than expected and the national flights are sold out until after New Year.

Tourism starts this monday ?

The doubts that the intervened Banks in Venzuela might truly open the 21st of December still keep the venezuelan tourists at home and the arrival of the huge amounts of national tourists is still on hold. Many flight and ferry reservations had been cancelled in the past days and the Christmas Season might be shortened this year

Island Surfers take home three Medals

After a long and difficult journey to Cabo san Roman in the venezuelan State of Falcon, the three Margarita Surfers Carlos Shaffer, Flavia Fernandez and Javier Vargas finished on first second and third place in their categories and saved the second Place in the Team Ranking for the Island State Nueva Esparta

North Sails takes top honors at the reader survey of WS Journal

The German Windsurfing Journal magazine just came out with a reader survey providing an overview on the German market (June – July 2009). Around 3000 readers have sent their replies to various questions.
Here is a little overview of North Sails´ excellent result
