Isla Coche
Isla Coche is well known for his great conditions in the Kitesurf and Windsurf world. The super Flat water and very consistant winds made the Island and the Bay of San Pedro to one of the Top Spots in the Kitesurfing world. Lots of Kitesurf Competitions, Worldcups and Evenst are held at these very Caribbean Beach, covered with pure white sands which devides the blue water from the Palmtrees. A Tour around the Island, which might take half a day is also more than worth the time, to explore the red cliffs, lagoons and salines
The Island of Coche covers an area of 55 km² around 11 km long and 6 km wide, with a population of about 8,200 (1999 census). The highest elevation of the island is 60 m above the sea level. The average temperature in the tropical climate is of approximately 27 to 38°C.
The capital is San Pedro de Coche. Other towns on Coche are El Bichar, Guinima, El Amparo, El Guamache and La Uva.
The economy depends mainly on tourism.
