Big El Yaque Wednesday  31.12.2009

If it is only coincidence or something beyond, that worldwide some of the biggest Waves break on wednesdays, nobody knows and maybe will ever know. In El Yaque it has been the Wednesday, where the waves started to break, pushing the water up over the entire beach and almost into the Windsurf Centers. The Beach resisted and so did the Wavebreakers which save the Beach from getting eaten again. What last was a lot of fun for all Kitesurfers, Windsurfers, Surfers, Paddle Surfers and even the Kayaks. Only the local Beach with his swimmers area remained empty, since the sea just came closer to the sunbeds than it was desired by the sunbathing tourists

Guadagnino up North  30.12.2009

El Yaque Local and Wave, - Freestyle and Slalom Worldcupper Diony Guadgnino went up north the Island of Margarita to find some nice Waves all around. The places to be were Puerto Cruz and the long Beach of Taguantar in the north west. Some of the Islands top surfers joined Guadagnino in the Line Up

Extraordinary El Yaque day  30.12.2009

The Flatwater Freestyle and Slalom Windsurf and Kitesurf Spot of El Yaque just lived a very extraordinary day. A big swell hitting the northern part of the Island of Margarita also turned into the El Yaque bay in the very far south of the Island. While the Kayak people and Boatdrivers had to struggle more than they are used to, a nice playground for the Wind and Kitesurfers was created. Two days before fullmoon the swell might even increase in the next two days

Frijol Center  28.12.2009

After three times world Champion in Freestyle Windsurfing Ricardo Campello, now also ex Worldcupper and one of the former El Yaque Kids, Alexis Zabala, opened a Windsurf and Kitesurf Club in the El Yaque Paradise Hotel, the "Frijol Windsurf and Kite Club"

Holiday feeling  27.12.2009

Much better as at the moment a holiday in the Caribbean couldn´t be, especially if you are Wind - or Kitesurfer. After the daily session on the water, a more and more beautiful Beachlife starts by sipping a nice Cocktail under Palmtrees, listening to the almost daily Live music. Once again the Shampam Bar offered a great Reggae night right at the Beach and also the new Ipanema Terass created a very nice atmosphere

Good to be Yaquero  27.12.2009

During the Christmas days the national tourism has increased rapidly and so did the international tourism. The Beach became more crowded in the past days, when the Margariteños, the Margarita people, joined the venezuelans who had arrived to spend their Christmas holidays in El Yaque, where they enjoyed their days in the sun and in the sea. Even on their way out of El Yaque at night those tourists could relax, in the traffic jam to pass the security checkpoint. Good when you don´t have to leave the village

Estredo let the house be rocked  26.12.2009

Three times Windsurf Worldchampion Gollito Estredo, together with his brother Leo and friend Alexis Zabala invited the entire village of El Yaque to a Party night at his home. After a big BBQ the Top Reggae Act "Baroni" and RAP Star "El Cubano" caused a great atmosphere for all people who followed Estredo´s invitation. The house indeed has been rocked

Tal Travel  24.12.2009

The week is not over but already three opening ceremonies in El Yaque in the past days took place. Tal Travel, another El Yaque Travel agency, offering entire Travel packages to Isla Margarita, day Trips in Venezuela, Windsurfing and Kitesurfing Trips and anything you´d like to do on a holiday, just opened their office in the El Yaque Paradise Hotel

Pizza wheels are back 23.12.2009

The cult Pizzeria MOBU has just reopened its doors. The small Caribbean Pizza Hut opened this week in their well known friendly and very nice atmosphere. Italian Pizza cook Mauro again offers something beyond a common Pizza menu, Tropical Pizzas with Banana or the Shark Pizza can be ordered

DryTrip to Coche 22.12.2009

Only 15 minutes by Boat from El Yaque and right opposite of El Yaque the Island of Coche is part of the El Yaque ambience. For years the ride over to one of the most famous Kitesurf and Windsurf Bays, providing pure flatwater and kilometers of white sandy Beach, it has been almost necessary to better wear a wetsuit. With the new motorised Catamaran, the Trip has just become much saver and dry. The Boat is leaving between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. each day

Shop and Hotel opening  21.12.2009

With free drinks and Dj the recently reconstructed Surf Paradise Shop opened his doors sunday night in the Center of El Yaque. The whole village had come to check the new Shop, which sells Windsurf and Kitesurf Hardware, clothing and Accessoires. After the opening ceremony also the freshly built new Appartments on the Roof Top of the Surf Paradise Hotel were opened for the public

Beach Wedding  19.12.2009

Who doesn´t dream of a Wedding at a white sandy Beach, under Palmtrees and only few Steps from the Ocean. Yesterday austrian Shop Owner of the Sail Fast El Yaque Shop Herbert Novak married his girlfriend Flor in front of the Planet Surfpool Center and Surf Paradise Hotel. The crwod also enjoyed the truly beautiful atmosphere and the Wind and Kitesurfers in the Background just added something very special to this wedding. What followed as a huge Beachparty in front of the Windsurfers Oasis Hotel

Baroni night at Shampam  18.12.2009

Each thursday one of Venezuelas Top Music Acts comes to play in the Shampam Bar and Restaurant, on the Beach, under Palmtrees and only few Steps from the Sea. The Top Reggae - Hip Hop Band Baroni feat. DJ Colli 212 just rocked that place in an atmosphere which can only be described caribbean fantastic

Silence before the storm ?  17.12.2009

The streets and Beachbars, Restaurants and Clubs still have too many empty chairs to offer and too many Cocktails waiting to be served. Still El Yaque is very quiet, maybe the silence before the storm ? The freshly built Bars, recently renovated and repainted Chill Outs and Restaurants really deserve to be visited. A lot of work has been done to make the Village to a very special Location again

Clear water  16.12.2009

The new Sewage Plant for El Yaque has started his work. The start button for the Plant, located between the Village of El Yaque and the Airport Santiago Marino, has been pushed to start the engines and secure a cleaner El Yaque. The canalisation had been put under the El Yaque streets already a couple of years ago, but with no connection to any Sewage plant, which caused some strange aroma especially in high season when the Village was very crowded. The problem is solved now and indeed the streets are clean, the smell gone

El Yaque Kitesurfers dominate National Kitecontest  15.12.2009

The El Yaque Kitesurfers managed to dominate the national Kite Competition inAraya, Estado Sucre on the venezuelan Mainland. Pro Kiter Aquiles Zabala managed to impress most and still had enough energy to jump onto the highest place on the podium. He was followed by his El Yaque friends and as well Kite Pro´s Douglas Salazar and Bruno "Brunasky" Carillo

Discovering the Island on wheels 14.12.2009

In a non windy Season, the newly installed activity in El Yaque would be a mayor thing to do, but also during a windy Season it is a very nice change and great opportunity to explore the Island of Margarita and the Island of Coche, per Mountainbike. The Planet Allsports Center with Planet Bike and the Canadians Al & Nora realize great Tours around the Islands. Together with a professional Bike guide and with very well equipped Mountainbikes you can go far beyond the usual touristic Routes and truly enjoy the beauty of these two Caribbean Islands

"SUN"day  13.12.2009

A Sunday you could consider a sunny day, at least in the Caribbean where most days of the year are just sunny. But this Sunday started with the first hard rainshowers in weeks. In company with the hard rainfalls, a tough seabreeze went along the coast of El Yaque and pushed a little swell onto the Beach. That little Skatepark for Wind and Kitesurfers didn´t last too long though. Already before noon the sun came through and the normal steady Tradewinds pushed the clowds away and the Wind and Kitesurfers over the water and the usual Sunday tourists, mostly local people from the Island, the so called Domingeros, once again enjoyed their day off at the Beach, watching the scenerie on the water while trying to empty their massive Rum and Whiskey filled Coolboxes. Not hard to say that this wouldn´t be a too tough challenge, only the way home might have been.

Welcome Air Méditerraneé  12.12.2009

Starting the 21st of December the Island of Margarita can count on another international flight coming in. The newly created Air Mediterraneé will leave the City of Basel in Switzerland on wednesdays to the international Airport Santiago Marino of Porlamar with a possible Stoppover in Paris.  The new Airline recently announced their new Destinations which is valid until april 2010

Support for El Yaque Windsurf Future  11.12.2009

A couple of years ago, the El Yaque Young Guns became famous, the windsurfworld started to talk about Ricardo Campello, Gollito Estredo, Cheo Diaz and Co.. Now they all made their way up into the Pro Windsurf Circuit and with some Worldtitles in their Bags already paid back the support they got in the early beginnings of their career. Today the next Generation of Windsurf Kids is flying over the water with small Slalom and Freestyle Gear. Actual world Champion Gollito Estredo and his brother Leo Estredo are one of the first, besides the Windsurf Centers at the Beach, supporting those Windsurf and Kitesurf enthusiastic boys and girls but also started their fight for a better support to the Sport and the Kids of the Village from the venezuelan Industry and Government. For most of the Kids it might be the only Chance for a life outside El Yaque

Windrecords tell good 10.12.2009

The windrecords of the past month tell good and gives hope for a very windy Season. Better late than never, after two rainy seasons with not too much wind. Statistics tell that a windy November always stays for a very windy season, and might cause lots of work for the El Yaque Physiotherapist, Stats better don´t lie.

"El Niño" visits El Yaque   08.12.2009                                                                   

The impact of the global coupled ocean - atmosphereweather phenomenon called "El Niño" seems to have arrived El Yaque. The watersurface in the pacific ocean and the Caribbean Sea usually gets cooled down during wintertime. During the El Niño Season, the Jet Stream shifts more up north and the warm watersurface doesn´t get a cool down by deep water currents. In most parts of Southamerica the effect causes storms and cyclones, in the north east of Southamerica very dry and hot weather. The lack of rain and heat on the Island produces a stronger termical effect joining the Tradewinds, which due to the shift of the Jet Stream got accelerated as well and makes El Yaque again to a true Windsport paradise
