Chaotic Windweather  25.02.2010

For the first time in the entire Season a real non wind day had tob e lived in El Yaque. During the very hot day the little breeze even came partly from west, while the common wind directions are always easterly. This wind situation is caused by a very chaotic weather in the Caribbean Sea and on the Atlantic Ocean, where some small high pressure zones are surrounded by an army of deep pressure zones which completely interrupt the normal tradewinds to get through to the southern Caribbean Sea, where the Island of Margarita is located

Street Softball  24.02.2010

A new Softball place has been created right at El Yaque´s Mainroad, where some terrain has been sweeped and cleaned, lines been drawn, to built a new playground for the el Yaque people, a place where the El Yaque local Fishermen, Kitesurfers and Windsurfers meet after their working day to spend a good time together right before sunset, playing their game, Softball. Each day more people can be seen waiting for their turn to hit and run

What would El Yaque be without the sports ? Of course, primary the watersports with Windsurfing and Kiteboarding made the this piece of desert and mangroves to what it is nowadays. But besides the two main Watersports, many activities like Wakeboard, Kayak, Mountainbike, running and many more are offered, but what could be better to bring your body in form before Breakfast and another nice day on the water than a great Fitness or Yoga Session in the early morning beauty. German Fitness Coach Nadja of the Planet Allsports Center and Canadian Nora do daily Yoga and Fitness Sessions at El Yaque Beach or at Casa Nora on Top of El Yaque. The Seabreeze and the great morning light plus some excercises should bring anybody on form for the day

Windsurf Revolution  21.02.2010

The name El Yaque is one of the most famous in Freestyle Windsurfing. Not only three times Worldchampion Ricardo Campello, three times and actual Worldchampion Gollito Estredo and female Worldchampion Colette Guadagnino grew up in the small windy, Fishervillage. Young Guns like Cheo Diaz, Alexis Zabala and Douglas Salazar could get some succesfull and less succesful Worldcup experiences.

Presidential Clean Up  20.02.2010

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez Frias will visit the Village of El Yaque, where the oficial opening ceremony of the treatment plant will be held. Already the entire week before the arrival of Venezuelas President, the entire Village got cleaned like never before, houses, walls, street lamps, sidewalks and even the street bumpers been painted, trees cut and flowers planted. Military and police was checking all places day and night for maximum security and Supporters brought to El Yaque in autobusses

Carnival Celebrations  17.02.2010

Before the Carnival celebrations are over this wednesday, in the cities of Porlamar, La Asuncion, San Juan, El Valle and Juan Griego Carnival Parades with more than three hours duration have been celebrated. The Brasilian Style and very colourful Parades with some real eye catcher costumes and floats, Samba rythms pounding through the streets and Samba girls moving their bodies to the beats, of course.

Three days Beach Party  16.02.2010

During the Carnival days the Shampam Bar at El Yaque Beach was making the pace. Three full days of Party, Shampam owner and venezuelas Top DJ Iraq putting on the volume for Venezuelas rich and beautyful. Only the tourists of the Yaque Paradise Hotel might have had some trouble with the pounding basses until midnight. Starting today the party should be over and El Yaque be back almost to normal, focussing on the wind and kitesurfing

Carnival crowds  15.02.2010

Like in many countries worldwide also in Venezuela and so on the Island of Margarita and El Yaque Beach the Carnival days started last thursday. Many Venezuelans use the short vacations to come over from the mainland to their caribbean Island of Margarita to spend some days with the family, celebrating Carnival in Porlamar, La Asuncion and San Juan, but mostly to party hard, as it happened already during the past days at the small El Yaque Beach, where hundreds of party willing people took over the Scenery for three days

Running Tracks  13.02.2010

Running at 35 degrees during daytime might not be the smartest Sports Activity during a stay in El Yaque. But especially at the beautiful morning and Sunset lights more and more people go for a short or longer run, mostly on the El Yaque roads, even on the autoway towards the Porlamar Airport. But great running Tracks can be found in and around the El Yaque Lagoon, where not only the light, but also the small Beaches, the whole variety of Birds and the view to Porlmar are very enjoyable. Some Windsurf Centers even offer guided Jogging Tours

The Queen of Carnaval  12.02.2010

The El Yaque primary School Kids year after year elect the "Queen of Carnaval", who will be escorted through the Village on Carnival´s Thursday. So happened also this year and it has been Carenys, usually seen on her small Motocross Bike speeding and jumping over El Yaque´s dirt roads or over the water with her Windsurfgear, who got all eyes on her while driving through El Yaque in her Carnival Fisherboat, escorted by music groups and her School Colleagues

Neron, El Yaque´s maybe most famous and certainly most photographed Dog, likes his daily ride after noon, when he eases onto his former Windsurfboard to surf close to the Shore between the Casa VIVA and the Beach Hotel and truly enjoys his ride and the people watching him. The Boxer seems to feel like a real surfer dude once he found his comfortable position on his Board

The wind is hauling along the El Yaque Beach twenty four hours at seven days a week, 24/7 as they would say in the United States. Especially the Windsurf and Kitesurf Instructors, working all day long to serve the watersports tourists, use the morning and late afternoon winds for some Sessions on the water and certainly the Sunset Sails are the most prefered. What could be better than a great Ride just before the Sun hits the sea and finally disappears

Fuerza 6 - windforce 6  09.02.2010

The Fuerza 6 Restaurant in the Center of El Yaque is one of the Village´s Restaurant with most tradition. No Wind or Kitesurfer leaves El Yaque without having a chicken or typical venezuelan food at Fuerza 6, which means windforce 6, where the walls are covered with Magazine articles and Images of worlds Windsport heroes. The person behind the Fuerza 6 Restaurant is Senora Gaby, who came to Margarita about 15 years ago as part of a Chilean Windsurf Club and just stayed in El Yaque to one year later open the Fuerza 6. During the day Senora Gaby, from Santiago de Chile, was seen every day windsurfing with the future El Yaque Stars, who were invited at night for some chicken or fish and still worlds Top Sailors always pass by the Restaurant close to the Basketball court to enjoy a nice meal, watching their own images

El Yaque weekend  08.02.2010

Salsa, Merengue and House Parties at the Beachbars Shampam, Ipanema, Yaque Paradise and in Gaby´s Voodoo Lounge plus some nice BBQ´s at the Beach under the Palmtrees like the one at the Windsurfers OASIS Hotel, that was the past weekend in El Yaque, the preparation weekend for the upcoming Carnaval week, when national tourists will arrive at the Village to spent their days off at the Beach and the nights celebrating the Carnaval in the Cities of Porlamar and La Asuncion

A Trip around Margarita  07.02.2010

Windless and rainy days are usually the perfect time for day Trip around the Island of Margarita, though two days would be better to also visit the Island part of Macanao. In the Winterseason of 2009 - 2010 the strong and daily winds sends the exhausted tourits on the Trip especially to the North coast of the Island of Margarita. And certainly it is worth the time. Worldchampions Reunion  06.02.2010

With Gollito Estredo, Ricardo Campello and Colette Guadagnino El Yaque can name three locals as Windsurf Worldchampions. After record Worldchampion Björn Dunkerbeck visited the village already this year and actual Slalom Champ and worlds fastest Windsurfer Antoine Albeau spent some days in the windy fishervillage as well, now brasilian Freestyle Worldchamp of 2007 and vize worldchamp of 2008, Marcilio "Brawzinho" Browne also has arrived for his Freestyle Training together with Estredo, Campello and Co. For one month the Top Freestyler, who is also one of worlds most radical Waveriders, will stay to practise the latest Freestyle Moves

Half Time in El Yaque  05.02.2010

The touristic El Yaque Windsurf and Kitesurf, which usually lasts from beginning November until middle of may, almost has reached halftime. Time for a short halftime resume. Already the first tourists arriving at the Island of Margarita could witness some positive changes, clean streets, fresh paint wherever you might go and above all the wind blowing every single day. Clowds didn´t have the slightest chance of staying over El Yaque for more than a couple of minutes. The first rain came after new year for few hours and again at the end of January for two days. The very dry season makes the termical wind increase harder and harder and already in January windforces which usually hit the Margarita coasts in the months of march and april blew over the Caribbean waters. The pure sunshine shifted the November and December typical brownish watercolours to pure blue / green. With less flights to Margarita, less people could witness an almost perfect winter season so far and those who made it to the Island of Margarita could just purely enjoy their time on and off water

Second direct flight from Canada  03.02.2010

The Terminal for national flights at the Airport santiago Marino of Porlamar has just recently completely been rebuilt, but now national flights also arrive at the international Terminal to make it a bit more useful, since only few international flights arrive at teh Island of Margarita. Good to see that now also CanJet sends their Boing 737 once a week from Toronto Pearson Airport to Porlamar

Guadagnino wins in Cumana  02.02.2010

Just a few degree south west of the Island of Margarita and one of the closest points to the Isla Margarita the Beaches of Cumana at the venzuelan Mainland are located. Especialyl the Beach of Araya is constantly provided by partly strong offshore winds, a perfect Location for the first national Windsurf Competition in 2010. PWA Pro Sailor Diony Guadagnino could proof again that he is one of worlds fastest Windsurfers by winning the Slalom Event, followed by Freestyle Worldchampion Gollito Estredo and actual national Champ Alexis Carache. Estredo also claimed second place in Formula Racing, behind Juan Marino, Venezuelas Top Formula and olympic class pilot

Yoli de Brendt - Athlete of the year  01.02.2010

El Yaque Local and Windsurf Pro Windsurfer Yoli de Brendt just got the price as best female athlete of the Island of Margarita in 2009. Decisive for the price were Yoli´s third place at the Fuerteventura Worldcup and fourth place in the PWA overall rankings and winning all 2009 national Competitions. In the men category blind athlete Julio Hereida received the price for his two gold medals at the special Panamerican athletic Championchips.
