January 2011 News

Week of Action

During the first week of the new year the action at El Yaque Beach has been more at the Beach than on the water, with the light wind and changing weather. The second week saw the action back on the water and more activities than drinking rum and whisky while sitting 10 hours in the sun. Windsurfers, Kitesurfers, SUP Riders, Kayak people, Skimboarders, Swimmers and Stagedivers from the pier (which is pretty risky due to the very shallow waters) brought real El Yaque life back to the Beach. El Yaque News got some Images of this week in Pics of the week

The windy week  14.01.2011

Final Kick off for the Season ?

Middle of January, as happened already a couple of times before in seasons which have started badly, with massive rainfalls and hardly any wind, this was the time of the weather change and when the wind started to blow. This year it seems to be exactly the same, a good week now that the wind has started, with ups and downs and gusty as usual when the wind first kicks in, but almost every day now El Yaque´s main Sport and the main reason for most people to come here, can be practised on the water and not only in the Beachbars over some Cocktails. The actual weather situation for the Caribbean could really mean that it has been the kick off for this season

Departure causes overkill  12.01.2011

Departing tourists of the past Christmas and New Years holidays caused a little chaos at the Airport and the Ferry port. Many tourists stayed at Isla Margarita longer than expected and so also the last holiday weekend still was very crowded at almost all beaches and especially in El Yaque, so nearly all tourists had to find a way to get back to the venezuelan Mainland by plane or ferry, which were already fully booked. Kilometers of waiting lists, thousands of people waiting to get back home and Airline Companies trying their best to get those people there was the result

Water and wind proof crowds  10.01.2011

Pics of the week

For most venezuelans holidays are over today, but still the Beach has been very crowded this past sunday and even the wind, which finally reached the El Yaque Village neither the rain during the past days made the sunbathing tourists disappear from the Beach. In the past years with the first Raindrops and stronger winds, most people just grabbed their massive coolers and went home to celebrate in dry ambience, not so this year, seems as most people are much more water and wind resistant this time. 1498 El Yaque News has put together some images to show you in Pics of the week

The right Seaview  09.01.2011

After some weather turbulences in the past weeks, where the rain at night and the light winds dominated the scenery, finally a more normal image of El Yaque is back. Yesterday has been the first day with WIndsurf and Kitesurf Action on the water the whole day, even if the wind has been pretty shaky still, it all looks as the season might start now, as it usually does. The Windforecasts, which had failed pretty often in the past weeks, by now seem to cooperate a bit better with the weather and the fact that the rain has almost stopped completely is another very good sign for the weather to chnage and the wind to blow again.

Christmas holidays about to end  08.01.2011

Last peak weekend before it´s all over

El yaque is heading towards the last very crowded weekend of this 2010 - 2011 Christmas holidays, which has been excepcionally crowded, with some Beaches in the north of Isla Margarita, more tourists than usual decided to spend their holidays at El Yaque Beach. Good for all the Beach Bars, Restaurants and above all the Bodegones, El Yaque´s small Supermarkets which just sold Truckloads of alcoholic beverages during the past three weeks. Already next Monday it will be much calmer, even if some venezuelans will stay another week. It will be nice seeing the Beach again after it has been covered with people and sunbeds for a while and the secenery will go back to a somehow more typical caribbean

El Yaque Resume 2010

The Black & White year  04.01.2011

Actually for the second El Yaque Resume of 1498 El Yaque News the Headline White & Black would have been a little more appropiate, but let´s start from the beginning with the resume of 2010 in the windy village of El Yaque.

In El Yaque´s history, the new year always started with some wind for a Windsurf or Kitesurf Session the first ...  read the 2010 resume

Reaching peak  03.01.2011

Already at the second day of the year 2011 El Yaque had reached one of the peak days, where not only the Beach but also the streets become just over crowded. A situation which mostly happens at the easter week for three or four days but is a novum for the christmas holidays. National tourists have discovered the Beach by now and seem to really like it. The sunbeds and tents were already fully booked out before midday and the traffic started to stuck at around the same time. Lucky were those who got the Beach within walking distance and could keep their cars at home.

One One Eleven  01.01.2011

Number one for El Yaque News as well

Of course the first report of 1498 El Yaque News at the first of January 2011 is dedicated to the new years eve at El Yaque Beach. Doesn´t matter where people, tourists, employees spend their new years eve, meet for Dinner or Pre Parties, short before midnight just anybody finds his way to the Beach, just that this time this sandy little peace of Isla Margarita became much more crowded than ever seen before. Those who arrived by car might have arrived late to the Beach, the village was just full and finding a place to park a vehicle quite a challenge. Besides the international tourists, many venezuelan tourists found their way to El Yaque for some private parties, Dinner in one of El Yaque´s Restaurant or just to enjoy the atmosphere and the great fireworks, which were certainly the biggest and most beautiful El Yaque has seen so far. While in the past years some DJ´s got responsable for the great beats and the vibe for the following massive Beachparties, this year the little lack of music made the Party end pretty early and the people left  a bit earlier than usual to their Hotel rooms or back to the City of Porlamar. Anyway it has been another great celebration and the predicted rainfalls also decided to better not destroy that atmosphere and kicked in during the early morning hours of the new year.
