Copa ONA III
El Yaque 2011
It has been the last day of the Copa ONA III at El Yaque Beach this Sunday, and again the wind played game, for the last Slalom Races and the Kite Freestyle, while the crowds invaded the small village and gave the Competitors the right motivation for another great show right at the Beach, where the Negus Crew performed another great Reggae Session at the Beach Bar. It should get a very exciting last day, most results could still chance with the last races and the Kite Freestylers still had to fight for their place in the finals..... read full report and see images

La Niña extended
Weather phenomenom visits El Yaque longer than expected
Already in September 2010 it became obvious that the weather phenomenom called La Niña will affect the globe for a couple of months, with droughts in many regions in the world and even more rain and strong bad weather situations in the rest of the world. The Caribbean Sea and its Islands would get much more rain and big Low pressure areas than usual which would cause an irritation of the normal wind and weather system for the entire area. So far so good and right, only that the predictions have been that the whole story should be over by the beginning of the new year. Now, in the middle of march La Niña is striking back, again and big time. With massive clowds and low pressure zones in southamerica and the caribbean, the wind has got no chance so far to build up and instead of the usual 100 % wind quote in march, in 2011 the rain quote will receive a quite big and surely completely unexpected number. A very unsatisfying situation for the tourists and even more for all working with tourism in the Caribbean and so of course also in El Yaque, where just anybody got prepared for another nice and windy season and now has to deal with the new circumstances. At least there is some light at the end of the tunnel and some better conditions in sight.
Killer Mountain Challenge 2011

In 2010 the canadians Al and Nora, running the Casa Nora Posada including Bike Tours, organized the Killer Mountain Challenge for the very first time. Killer Mountain at this caribbean Island ? PWA Worldcup Vietnam finished
Estredo and Paternina started well into 2011
It was the kick off Event for the professional Windsurfers, the Mui Ne PWA Worldcup in Vietnam. Actual Worldchampion in Freestyle and his team colleague and also El Yaque Local Deivis Paternina went to far Asia to fight for honours and Top Rankings. The Competition started the 25th of February with steady winds and while Gollito Estredo made his way straight up into the final once again, Deivis Paternina had a very hard opponent in the first rounds already and had to come back in the Loosersrounds. Four Elimination have been sailed when the Event finished the 28th of February and four times the finals was Gollito Estredo against Kiri Thode. A Final which has been witnessed countless times in Freestyle history, but for the first time it was Thode who could win all the finals against the Worldchampion and secured also the Event victory, while Estredo comes back home to El Yaque with a second place and Paternina with an 11th place overall. Still a very good result to start into the 2011 season, with still six more Freestyle Worldcups up to come
