November 2011 - News

High Voltage night

Massive clouds and pooring rain surrounded El Yaque the entire Monday but over the village and his Beach it remained calm, dry and sunny, at least until the Sun disappeared at the horizon. A massive thunderstorm sent down some high voltage lightnings followed by insane thunder, added by some rain of course.

But nothing to wow, it´s November and as just anywhere in the northern hemisphere it is the month of the changing weather conditions and in the Caribbean and Southamerica it just still is part of the rain season and those storms can happen sometimes. In 2011 they are really rare, no mayor Hurricanes or tropical storms have hit the Caribbean paradise so far.

Double Sized - El Yaque getting XL

It all started with one little tiny dirt road, leaving the road from Porlamar to the Airport towards the Sea to arrive at this Village of few Fishermen huts. Well that was many years ago, when El Yaque got discovered as one of the windiest winter places and the Wind tourism started. Even after the first Hotels had been built, the village remained small for many years, with no mayor changes. In the past four years the Village approximately doubled his size, new roads, many new Posadas, Shops, parking places and private houses have been built and are still under construction. El Yaque is on the way from XXS certainly not to XL but at least to S size right now.....

Sun - wind and Sunsets

Caribbean November, mostly known for a rainy season or at least the end of the rainy season at most parts of the Caribbean and so also at the very far south at Isla Margarita. November also means the end of the Hurricane Season, usually, while with the actual global weather major Hurricanes didn´t built up, but above all it is the start of the wind season, the most important for the mayority of El Yaque´s guests. So far the season has started pretty well, with some nice winds for Kiteboarding and Windsurfing while the clouds became responsable for some incredible sunsets. If you are on your way to El Yaque, don´t forget to charge the batteries of your camera !

Time to celebrate

A big Bonfire with a massive party thursday night at the new Kite Beach in El Yaque was followed by the Margarita Xtreme anniversary the 11.11.2011 at the El Yaque Mainbeach, better, at THE Sunset Spot, where the Margarita Xtreme Kitecenter is located and opened his doors 11 years ago. It was all about the 11 that day, which has been a windy day as well for Kiteboarding and Windsurfing. Celebrations, Sun and Wind, it all looks as El Yaque would get another normal windy season after suffering with bad weather in the past season
