Interview Gollito Estredo

1498 :  After a long winter, with the first PWA in Austria your Training Season ended. How has your Training been and how did you feel at this first Freestyle Contest in 2010 ?

Gollito Estredo : For a guy from the Caribbean it is not really easy to adapt to those conditions as we had them in Austria, but after some years on the Tour I got used to it a little already and anyway I always try to do my best. I felt very good in almost all my Heats, unluckily not in all, but I am still very happy with my third place

1498 : The Next Contest will be at Lanzarote. You like that spot and how you see your chances there ?

GE : The Spot at Lanzarote is a very good Spot for me, I have a lot of time competing at this place already and i would say it´s one of my favourites, it was always a good place for me, but we will see this year, the Level has changed a lot and it is getting harder and

1498 : What about the Level at the 2010 PWA Tour in Freestyle ?

GE : The Level in the PWA indeed is super high this year, there will be no easy Heats at all, all Competitors are sailing really really good, doing the latest Moves, which is very good for the Competitions. Now we hope for a lot of wind and good Competitions for the Spectators and for us, too

1498 : Who you think will be your hardest Opponent to defend your Title in 2010 ?

GE : This year is very different, since there are so many Sailors on the highest Level, I would say there are many who could win the Title by the end of the season, but of course I will do my best and sail as hard as I can to defend my title also in 2010

1498 : How does it feel to be tripple Worldchampion and does it increase the pressure for the    actual  PWA season ?

GE : To be three times Worldchampion is something really amazing and I am still super happy with that, At the moment I am pretty relaxed, with my third place in the first Competition and three more Contests to go I will also try to remain relaxed and focused to be able doing my best in those three

1498 : The people have seen you also flying over the water in high speed on your Slalom gear and also in Waves you prooved your talent already. What you think how long it might last until you also fight for the title in those disciplines ?

GE : Actually I am still not thinking of competing in Slalom and Waves too hard. I am young and still have many years to go on the World Tour. I do train Slalom quite often but still only for the national Cups in Venezuela and Waves, at my Homespot I just don´t have the right conditions to push my wavesailing a little harder. So I think one day I will go full strength for Slalom Racing

1498 El Yaque News wishes you good luck for the 2010 Worldcup Tour !!
