PWA Freestyle Worldcup Bonaire 2011
PWA Freestyle Worldcup Bonaire
The El Yaque Locals Gollito Estredo, Yoli de Brendt and Deivis Paternina went out again to fight for point son the WIndsurf Freestyle Worldtour. This time the two Caribbean Islands of Bonaire and Aruba were the goal and about to provide nice sceneries for top of the art Freestyle. Even if the El Yaque Freestyle heroes prefer to have a little wave and strong winds, conditions they won´t find at neither of those two Spots, they went out to sail their way to the Top Places. 4 times Worldchampion Estredo has some work to do with a second and a fourth place at the first two Events of the 2011 Worldtour and there is no doubt that he´ll fight back. For the women and so Yoli de Brendt it is the first Tour Stopp in 2011 and the first Event to check the Level of the other ladies on the tour but also here de Brendt will do her best to defend her second place of 2010. If they both do good in the Caribbean the chance is high for a top place in the rankings as their favourite Spots with their favouring conditions at the Canary Islands will still come.
Biggest Competition for Estredo surely are Kiri Thode and Taty Frans from Bonaire and Belgium Steven van Broekhoven, while Yoli de Brendt has to fight it out most probably with Worldchampion Sara Quita from Aruba, Swiss Laure Treboux, dutch Arianne Aukes and danish Xenia Kessler...... we´ll keep you updated here at El Yaque News
De Brendt finishes third, Estredo fourth and Paternina 21st
Resume
For the Top of the top men in the Freestyle windsurfing world the PWA Bonaire Freestyle Worldcup has been already Stopp three of the 2011 Worldtour... for the women it was Competition number one. Four times and actual Worldchamp Gollito Estredo, vice women worldchampion Yoli de Brendt and third El Yaque Local Deivis Paternina went over to their caribbean neighbors to do their best to finish another Contest in the Top Ranking.
Between the 12th and 16th of June the worlds Top Freestylers found their way to Sorobon Bay at Bonaire. For Gollito Estredo it was necessary to finish this Event better than the previous in Vietnam and Austria to be able defending his title. But Competition was very tough, especially as most of his Top opponents can name Bonaire as their home. Two complete double eliminations later and with the Freestylers already travelling to their next Stopp at Aruba, it is written black on white that Estredo had to step back and leave the podium places to Kiri Thode from Bonaire, who won his second Contest in 2011 already, Taty Frans from Bonaire who finished 3rd and Belgium Steven van Broekhoven who also knows this place very well, as it is his number one choice for the winter training.
Yoli de Brendt knew that it would be hard to defend her 2010 ranking in conditions which don´t favor her to much, the El Yaque Local prefers strong winds and some waves for her top performance, as well does Estredo, but still finsihed with very solid Freestyle on the Podium at third place, with Worldchampion Sara Quita from Aruba in first and swiss Laure Teboux in second....
Well Done to all El Yaque Locals !!!!! Once again they´ve prooven that they deserve their place at the Top of the Freestyle Windsurfing world.
Days one and two :
The first two days of the 2011 PWA Freestyle Bonaire provided some very nice Freestyle Conditions, with Flatwater and the typical Bonaire winds, so a complete Single and Double Elimination could be sailed so far and the second Single Elimination has started as well. The El Yaque locals did pretty well in the little light wind conditions, as they all like the stronger winds much better. Estredo made his way straight up into the semi final, where he as stopped by Bonaire Local Taty Frans and in the end the actual Worldchamp had to be happy with a fourth place in that first round, certainly a result which he won´t be to happy about as his goal always is to be at least on the podium, better on the highest stair. Yoli de Brendt instead made her way up the podium, she was stopped by swiss Laure Treboux in the semi final but still managed to defend a third place against dutch Arianne Aukes. Deivis Paternina had a hard Job to do to get up the elimination ladder and was stopped earlier than Estredo and de Brendt and after two days finds himself on 17th position.....
