PWA Wave Worldcup Gran Canaria 2011

Ricardo Campello finishes 4th at Worldcup Gran Canaria

He is one of the men to fear at one of worlds hardest and extreme Wavesailing Spots, El Yaque Local and Wave vice Worldchampion Ricardo Campello and at the 2011 edition of the PWA Wave Worldcup at Pozo Izqzuierdo - Gran Canaria once again the brasilian living in Venezuela prooved that he is a tough one to beat and with amazing performances and insane Jumps he made it all the way up to the semifinals, in a wavesailing fleet where anybody could beat anybody, but Campello showed already many times that he just loves to sail and jump those tough and rough conditions and only Gran Canaria Local and actual Jump Master number one, Philip Köster, managed to stop Campello in the semifinal to later win this Single Elimination against actual Worldchampion Victor Fernandez, while Campello could win the little final for third place against his friend Marcilio Browne from Brasil.

The second El Yaque local who wished to start at this Event, Freestyle Worldchampion Gollito Estredo was unable to get on the water due to his shoulder injury he got during his Freestyle Final at the Lanzarote Worldcup

In incredibly tough winds the Double Elimination of the Event was started and Campello had the advantage to sit in third position and wait for opponents coming through the double elimination and might be a bit exhausted already once they had to sail with the brasilian in fight for third place of the Event. It was another super strong Gran Canaria Local who made his way up to batte it out with Campellofor third place, Dario Ojeda and actually the Canarian didn´t look exhausted at all, better he looked juts warmed up and pulled off an amazing Show to defeat Campello in a very close call of the Judges and send him back to fourth place of the Event´s overall rankings.
