Wind - and Kitesurf in El Yaque

With Windsurfing the Village of El Yaque became famous and made the unknown Village grow. Since a couple of years quite some kitesurf Centers have also opened their doors along El Yaque Beach and with the new sport in El Yaque some rules had to be created, first of all to make the Spot as safe as possible. Most Windsurfers didn´t know how to react when being surrounded by Kitesurfers and Kitesurf beginners were dragged with no control through the former Windsurf Bay.

Now Kitesurfing is permitted in the Windsurf Area, which is the main beach in front of the hotels, before 09.00 a.m. and after 05.00 p.m.

Inbetween the Kitesurfers sail in their Kitesurfing Zone, which is upwind of the Windsurfing Area.

Downwind of the Windsurfing Area, behind the pier, is supposed to be the swimmers zone, but mostly in the high season and time of national tourism. In the rest of the time Windsurfers could use this area without getting too close to the beach.

The Kitesurf Centers just recently discovered the very far downwind side of El Yaque for their Kitesurf lessons, while the Windsurf Freestylers use the Flatwater to train their latest tricks
