Windsurf Revolution

The name El Yaque is one of the most famous in Freestyle Windsurfing. Not only three times Worldchampion Ricardo Campello, three times and actual Worldchampion Gollito Estredo and female Worldchampion Colette Guadagnino grew up in the small windy, Fishervillage. Young Guns like Cheo Diaz, Alexis Zabala and Douglas Salazar could get some succesfull and less succesful Worldcup experiences.

Worlds Top Freestyle artists, like three times european Champion Normen Günzlein, two times european Champion Andre Paskowski, british Champ Andy Chambers, Russian Champ Yegor Propietinsky, french Freestyle Champ Anthony Ruenes, dutch Freestyle Wizzard Remko de Weerd, spanish Antxon Otaegui, US Champ Wyatt Miller, ex Worldchamp Marcilio Browne, Canadian Pro Phil Soltysiak and many more, visit El Yaque year after year as well for their Wintertraining, the windsurfing tourists got a pretty high Level and most Windsurf Instructors rotate their boards, sails and bodies on pro level.

 

Now, with El Yaque´s Top guys in their twenties, a next Generation is almost missing, only 17 years old Deivis Paternina and Bryan Castillo at the same age are trying to catch up. For the young Kids Windsurfing seemed to be unreachable and to hard to learn.

Two years ago the Windsurf Centers started to invest more money into Windsurf Gear for Children and the small El Yaque Kids, some only 5 -7 years of age got their first introduction in to El Yaque´s most famous sport and only a few weeks later the first Kids Competition have been organized and it was more than impressive how save the Mini Windsurfers sailed around the Slalom Parcours and how competitive they already got after only a couple of days or weeks on the water.

Exactly those Competitions pushed the small Kids to get better and faster each day and once they got more secure on their boards, they even started to lift the immense Gear out of the water and into the first Freestyle Moves, while most decided to spend their winter at different Locations or Wave Spots. The Kids are taking their chances to impress the people at the Beach. A whole new Revolution in El Yaque Windsurf has started and surely some of those Kids will get their chance to do it like their Idols Estredo, Campello and Co and go the Pro way.....
